I’m Kurtis Barber, an 18-year-old contemporary artist with a passion for creating highly detailed, expressive artworks. My work explores a range of styles and mediums, from intricate stippling and dramatic monochrome portraits to vibrant, colourful paintings and graphite sketches.
Art has always been a form of self-expression for me — a way to experiment, challenge myself and communicate ideas that words sometimes can’t. My signature stipple artworks are created entirely from individual dots, building up depth, contrast and detail to transform simple marks into striking monochrome portraits.
For a long time, I was scared of portraiture; however, I took on the challenge of capturing someone’s likeness. Over time, I developed my own style and found confidence in portraiture, turning something I once avoided into one of my favourite ways to create. I now spend my days creating art that brings happiness to both myself and others.
